County golfers raise 9k for local charities
Seventeen teams of keen amateur golfers – all representing Gloucestershire businesses – fought a friendly tournament to raise funds for the Gloucestershire Community Foundation (GCF) at Tewkesbury Park on Wednesday 25 June and raised an impressive £9k for local charities.
The winning team, representing Balfour Beatty, Ashley Fuller, Graham Drinkwater, Dave Stanton and Nigel Allen, walked away with the cup and lots of golfing goodies donated by C&G, Mears Group and UCAS.
Dave Dare, from Target Marketing Communications team, won the individual event. The Target team, Colin Spencer, Zak McKinven, Steve Faulkner and Dave Dare, came overall second.
"The tournament, now in its 5th year was a great success," said Patrick Wood, vice chairman, GCF. "We are very grateful for the tremendous support from all the entrants and sponsors. The GCF will put the funds raised to very good use. We are also glad that the weather was kind to us and the course in good condition."
