We're a creative lot here at Target and not just during working hours. Amateur artist Katie Clifford will be exhibiting her work at Lower Slaughter Village Hall on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March to raise money for The Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund (LINC).

Katie has always been a creative sort – perfectly suited to working for Target Creativity. After completing an art A-Level, she didn't pick up her oil paints again until finishing university but she now wiles away many an hour creating masterpieces in her 'studio' at home and has shown such raw talent that the Target head of art is starting to fear for his job!

The exhibition will take place in the picturesque village of Lower Slaughter, near Stow on the Wold and is open to the public from 11am to 4pm on both days. Admission is free and all the work on display will be available to buy, with a percentage of each sale going to LINC which is based at Cheltenham General Hospital.

The charity works to provide financial and psychological support for cancer sufferers and their families in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and South Worcestershire; trying to ensure that every facility is available to make long stays in hospital as comfortable as possible.

Katie says: "I did the exhibition last year and really enjoyed it. This year, I'll be displaying three of my oil paintings alongside more than 25 other local artists including photographers and potters, so it should be an interesting exhibition. We raised £2,000 last year and we're hoping for similar success this year."

An official preview night will take place on Friday 20 March from 7pm. This is by invitation only so if you would like to attend you need to contact the LINC office at linc@glos.nhs.uk

Katie continues: "It's a great opportunity for local artists to display their work, as well as raising money for a great local cause. I would like to encourage as many people as possible to come along and show their support for LINC which does such great work to help cancer patients throughout our region."

Target staff will of course be showing their support for Katie – mainly due to her promise of wine and cake – and we'd like to shamelessly urge you to go along too. You never know, you might pick up a future masterpiece!!
