news archive Target brings Xmas bonus to Sue Ryder

Target ditched sending Christmas cards again this year – but hung on to the spirit of goodwill.

Our creative team designed an e-card for clients and friends of the business, and we donated the money we would normally spend on paper cards to our nearby Sue Ryder hospice in Leckhampton.

Chief Executive Colin Spencer handed a cheque for £250 to the hospice's Senior Fundraiser Pam Sewell at Target's offices during a small festive gathering.

"We're delighted to support the Sue Ryder hospice because it's not only a great cause, they're also our neighbours," he said.

Mrs Sewell was delighted. "It's a lovely surprise," she said. "We need £2 million per year to keep the hospice going and have to raise £1 million ourselves. We couldn't do that without the support of local businesses like Target. We're extremely grateful that, despite the recession, they still bear our charity in mind."
