news archive Target scores top marks in PR audit

Target has been awarded top marks by the PR industry's senior auditing body.

The company was visited by an auditor from the Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA).

Managing Director of Target Public Relations Sarah Bryars said: "We scored 97% which the auditor told us was one of the highest marks he had ever given. It's a credit to the team at Target and a real achievement."

The Consultancy Management Standard (CMS) is the industry's quality certification system for public relations firms.

"The CMS certificate recognises that we are not only doing good work for our clients but that we also demonstrate good management practice in every aspect of our business," said Sarah.

Target is one of only 140 consultancies out of the 2,000 in the UK to have passed the rigorous audit.

The agency was tested in eight subjects including management, finance, internal and external communications, campaigns, business planning, training and development and evaluation methods.

Francis Ingham, director-general of the PRCA, said: "CMS is the global stamp of PR professionalism. Very few agencies meet its stringent requirements, so it is a mark of genuine excellence that Target has been awarded this prestigious standard. It marks them out as one of the very best PR agencies."

He added that the CMS offers clients an assurance that Target adheres to strict quality standards throughout its operation. It combines elements of ISO 9000 and Investors in People with criteria specific to the public relations industry.
